Who was Shanto Khan: The Bangladeshi actor killed during the protests

Bangladeshi actor Shanto Khan, popular for movies like Prem Chor, Piya Re, Bubujaan, and Anto Nagar, along with his father, producer Salim Khan, was killed during the protests in the country.

Shanto Khan debuted with the movie Prem Chor in 2019. Later, he worked in Piya Re in 2021, Bubujaan in 2023 and Anto Nagar in 2024.

He had played young Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the film Tungiparar Miya Bhai in 2021.

Shanto Khan was killed at Chandpur on Monday night along with his father, owner of a popular Bangladeshi production house, who financed films Tungi Parar Miya Bhai’, Commando’ and others.

“I was stunned after hearing the news that he and his father were killed. We don’t know the circumstances leading to their deaths. It saddens my heart to learn they were killed. Artists like us who thrive on art and creativity always yearn for peace, amity and brotherhood,” said Kolkata-based actor Rajatabha Dutta.

Selim Khan was involved in the production of movies like Agnibina and Manob Danob, which now may face disruption owing to his death.
